Helen & Helen Ruane

Helen  2014
Helen is one of my own Swedish raised doubles and is a large robust plant with a very pleasant scent. Helen Ruane is a grey/yellow fancy which I have found to be a rather small slow growing auricula. I believe it was raised by Mathew Ruan and originally named 'Helen Ruan'. /Ray

A very unusual border auricula

Seedling No.55 19th May

I've been experimenting with some border auricula crosses; seedling No.55 is very unusual as it changes colour from a mustard brown colour to a bright lilac as the pips mature (blooms). I’ve some auriculas where the pip becomes a different tone of the same colour as they mature, but never such a large colour change. I do not know if this is a one off event for its first blooming or if it will continue to perform the same every year, so I will test for a couple of years  to see how it performs long-term. If anyone else had had this phenomenon please do let me know./Ray

Ina's Auriculas in Germany

Here are some pictures of Ina's wonderful auriculas; she is particularly  enthused in those that have a fine sprinkle of farina on the pips petals (flower heads), such as Werner. Thanks again Ina for sharing your pictures with us. If other members have pictures of their auriculas they wish to share with us, do please send them to me/Ray
